Lord Jesus,
Calm our minds to a hush and still our hearts so that we may reflect on the wonder of Your birth. Lord You are holy and awesome and mighty, yet out of love you stepped out of heaven, concealing yourself in the guise of a human, with divine purpose.
But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. (Philippians 2:7) (AMPC)
Because of our sin and Your love, Your remarkable plan was always to redeem fallen humanity, to pay the price we could never afford. You lived a perfect, sinless life. You died a horrific, merciless death so that our debt would be paid in full.
He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:14) (CSB)
You came to earth in secret. You departed having defeated death itself, Your victory is now our victory. Even now, You champion and pray for us at the right hand of God the Father. Our salvation is sure and our eternities secure forever because of Your great love and Your unfathomable sacrifice.
Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them. (Hebrews 7:25) (AMPC)
This holiday season, help us to keep our hearts riveted on Your great love, and enable us to face the sadness we encounter on this earth knowing deep in our hearts and with every step, that You remain powerfully near us.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20) (CSB)
As we walk through these inescapable trials and afflictions, give us the grace to continually trust You. Help us to pray without ceasing. Continually fill us with Your supernatural peace. Father of mercies, as we navigate life in this fallen world, enable us to keep our eyes on You. Comfort our hearts as only You can.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3) (CSB)
May our hearts continually rejoice in all You have accomplished for us through the finished work of the cross. May hope swell in our hearts because You, Jesus, are our living hope. As we ponder the Christ child’s birth, may our hearts joyfully remember that You have also given us new birth.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3) (CSB)
Prince of Peace, we are grateful that You are sovereign over all of history and over our lives, as well. As we reflect on the mystery of the manger and the wonder of Your great, sacrificial love, may our hearts truly adore You. May we rest in Your love. And May Your peace reign in our hearts and lives through this Christmas season.
For he is our peace (Ephesians 2:14) (CSB)
King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we pray all this in Your glorious name, amen.
For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
