Today (11/11) my 4th book released! This is remarkable for many reasons, not the least of which is I am a high school dropout. Zero formal education. My siblings and I grew up in a family where we endured violence, hunger, fear, and serious neglect. At 17, I dropped out of high school to earn a living. Thank God for Jesus. He changes everything. More on that another time.
THE SCOOP
This new book, Overflowing Grace: Finding Strength to Carry on as a Caregiver, is not a book I had any intention of writing. How was I to know events would shape my life and prepare me for this sacred assignment?
Back in 2019, when we discovered our single daughter was pregnant, we embraced her and our precious granddaughter to come. Four years later, knowing I had been caring for our granddaughter full-time while our daughter worked, Whitaker House Publishers reached out and asked if I would write a book for caregivers. My first response? “Umm, no thanks.”
Yet as I prayed about it, I sensed this was the very task God assigned me, and can I just tell you that as I came to the end of writing this beautiful book, I cried. My heart overflowed with compassion and empathy for those walking the caregiving journey. As I closed out the last words of this special book, I sensed God’s enormous love for those who care for others. For those who (whether they saw it coming or not) have stepped up into the role of caregiver.
Overflowing Grace offers uplifting support and serious spiritual encouragement, including Scripture-based prayers, for those walking through the often-challenging caregiver journey. It’s an arduous walk. But with God’s strength, it’s possible to meet those needs while also thriving ourselves. Always through His amazing grace.
If you’re a caregiver or know someone who currently serves in that capacity, my fervent prayer is that God will use this book to encourage, strengthen, and bless you.
